Are you thinking what I am thinking? – Heroes with issues

I grew up loving the world of superheroes, however, it was only recently that I got to hear the story of how Spider-man came into being; from Stan Lee himself. You can watch the same video with this link ,however, the interesting part of the story for me was the questions that Stan Lee’s editor at the time posed concerning the new superhero.

Stan Lee, did not only want the new superhero to be a teenager, he also wanted him to be a teenager with personal issues. The editor on his part had some interesting and probably true reservations that I paraphrase below;
Don’t you know people hate spiders? You can’t call a hero Spider-man?
You want him to have issues! Stan, don’t you know what a hero is? They don’t have personal problems!

My thought is this, like Stan Lee’s editor, many of us may have similar reservations about our Christian life, Christianity or Christians in general.
Why should a Christian die a terrible death?
Why should a good Christian have a cheating spouse?
Why should a kind-hearted Christian live a life of poverty?
Why should Paul have a “thorn in his flesh”?
My guess is, may be, like Spider-man, our creator sometimes chooses to create us heroes with issues.
