You Will Not Understand the World and the World Will Not Understand You I

There is one thing I have come to realize about the journey towards an extraordinary life; you will not understand the world and the world will not understand you.

Longsuffering (forbearance, Galatians 5:22, KJV) is one fruit of the spirit you may have to bear all the days of your life if you want to be able to live in this world. A Spirit-filled and a Spirit-led life will have to be lived in a “heathen” world; a world where Christians can be carnal and the Pastor who counsels you in a particular way in a particular situation is not able to live up to his own counsel when he is faced with a similar situation. A world where people you love dearly, hurt you the most. How do we deal with these?

Know from whom you have learnt these things; knowing the actual source of what you know and live by is important in knowing what decisions to take when you realize that fellow Christians or even Pastors are not able to live up to their own counsel. You may feel deceived, cheated or even hurt. Jesus shared a nugget of wisdom on this topic- Mattew 23:1-3; Then Jesus spoke to the crowds and to His disciples: 2.The scribes and Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. 3. So practice and observe everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. It is best to accept Christ as our standard for life and not men, neither a fellow Christian nor Pastor. Do not be surprised when you are hurt by people in the church, they should have been different, but the hard truth is- they are not altogether different. We are all striving to meet the standard, that is, the Word.
